Daring to make your look peerless!

Fashion is what you make it.
My name is Jean and I hail from DC and if you know anything about fashion you would know we have been grossly overlooked by the fashion critics.  I am here to tell you that Washingtonians have style.  We know fashion and are somewhat slaves to the cause.  Just ride through any urban area and you will see a variety of styles oozing with all sorts of fashion flavors.  Or take a stroll through Georgetown or Chevy Chase where you will find high society donning the latest Gucci, Prada, Givenchy, or Chanel bag.  However, it just isn’t enough to acquire the coveted jeans or sneakers that your buddy has.  And sometimes, even that new designer bag needs to be accompanied with a touch of your personal style.  One has to desire to be the one apple among the oranges in the fruit bowl.
You don’t have to break the bank to have style.  You just have to have an eye for what looks good and what works for you.  In fact, you can shop at your local thrift store and look better than someone who has just spent a couple of thousands at NeeMee’s or Saks.  My first suggestion would be to strive to look different.  The lone apple in the bowl is just as appealing as the oranges.

For as long as I can remember I have been planning my outfits to wear as soon as I know I am going to an event.  It doesn’t matter if it is months away.  My mind is working and visualizing the perfect look for me.  Maybe I am obsessive, but I actually dream clothes, I’m up all hours of the night pairing this look with that look.  Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t, but if I did not think to pair two tops together I would never have known how great it would come off.  I dare to do be different.

I have two events to attend within the next month.  One is a dress to impress birthday party and the other is a black and white affair.  I will posting pics of my possible choices for each event on my trusty assistant Jeanne Deux, (pronounced as John with a soft sound John-two), to give you an idea of how easy creating your look can be.

Jeanne Deux is ready to paint the town.  Wearing a bright orange open back top purchased from Tobi.  Her jeans are micro flared skinny's by Joe.  She will sport her Loeffler Randall Bree black suede shoes.  Navy blue clutch by Michael Kors.  Accessories to the main look should playfully "pop it out."  Bright yellow earrings are chosen, a white snakeskin belt, and a silver studded bracelet tops it off.  Must confess, I  borrowed this outfit and wore it out dancing.  And many compliments from people I didn't even know were lavished upon me. Happy to say I did Jeanne Deux proud!

Introduction

Mon Petit Chou Heaven is an up and coming consignment shop that will sell both new and used clothing.   Because fashion evokes style and style is a manner of dress I would like to share my observations and opinions on both.  Fashion is created by designers and produced by manufacturers to be placed in retail stores.  Some would argue that fashion and style are the same and in a sense they are.  But I wouldn’t necessarily interchange the two.  With that being said I am going to share "mes deux cents."

To me style has flair, denotes attitude, promotes creativity, and it sometimes says, “This is what I am feeling and I don’t care what you think.”  Style can be elegant.  It can be seductive.  On many occasions it will present itself in a business manner.  Of course there will come a time when it will lend itself to playfulness.  But whatever the mood or setting you should strive to look your best.   At Mon Petit Chou Consignment we want to offer you, “My Little Cabbage,” a piece of our little “Heaven.”

About myself:

I love fashion.  I love clothes.  I love the art of playing with clothes.  I have style… And I love bargains on designer clothing, how about you?
